This weekend we took my in laws (outlaws?) away for a night. Since moving further away from them (about an hours drive) we’ve been meaning to take the time to explore some of our new surroundings with them so they don’t feel excluded from our new environment. So we picked somewhere about an hour from our house and booked a beautiful 5* B&B to be our base for the weekends exploring. In case anyone is interested in checking out a fabulous B&B the website is http://www.mollandhouse.co.uk/. What a beautiful place it was, the service was above and beyond, we were allowed to take our daft dog with us and upon arrival they treated us to cream tea – what a welcome! We will be returning there for sure.

thumb_IMG_0699_1024The area surrounding our base camp was so quaint and I mean that in a very positive way. It was adorable and we met so many lovely people. For my in laws having friendly people around was a particular treat as they don’t live in an area where people talk to / acknowledge strangers. We walked and walked till the poor dog was exhausted but it was so beautiful and lovely to take in so much fresh air.

One of our stops was Canterbury as my in laws hadn’t been there in years and my husband and I like to wander there quite regularly. Unfortunately we couldn’t fit in tea and cake at Tiny Tim’s www.tinytimstearoom.com our favourite place in Canterbury but we did manage to restock on their loose leaf teas (highly recommend their Chai tea or Kentish Apple) and then had good wander round a few antique book stores. It’s such a great place for a casual wander, whether you have an hour or a whole day I feel like it’s worth going.

In Sandwich we were surprised by how small it was. A lot of one way streets and the buildings were all so close together but there was so much personality and character in all of the buildings. We found a new favourite store here, the No Name Shop and Bistro http://www.nonameshop.co.uk/bistro/. We didn’t eat here but we shopped…a lot. This little delicatessen had so many yummies to choose from that we left with two full bagfuls. For lunch we ate at the Hop and Huffkin  www.hopandhuffkin.co.uk/ which is a member of “Produced in Kent”. Like all places we have been to so far that are members of this group it was a really great looking establishment and it was dog friendly which was lovely for us. Unfortunately the food left us a little underwhelmed in most cases but for myself it left my stomach really upset which took a few days to get over, such a shame when that happens.

We really look forward to seeing more of what our new surroundings hold, there is so much beauty around us and so much more to see and do.

Bye for now x
